Chain Link Fencing Is a Good Residential Choice After All

Posted on: 1 November 2018

When you think of residential fencing, the first styles that come to mind are probably wood and vinyl fences. Chain link fencing is often thought of as a more industrial or commercial option. After all, it's not as beautiful as carefully hewn oak boards or white vinyl pickets. However, chain link fencing is better suited for residential use than you might assume. Here are a few reasons you may want to consider it for your yard.

Chain link fencing is affordable.

Chain link fencing is fast and easy to manufacture, and the materials to make it — generally galvanized steel — are relatively cheap, too. As such, chain link fencing is more budget-friendly than more popular residential options like vinyl and wood. If you really need a fence but don't have a lot of cash on hand, choosing chain link will allow you to have a fence sooner. You may also be able to avoid financing if you go with chain link fencing over a more expensive option. This could save you from having to make costly payments for a number of years.

Today's chain link fencing lasts longer.

You've probably seen some dilapidated, old chain link fences around stores or homes and worried that your fence may look the same after a few years. However, new chain link fences — at least the better quality ones — are made to retain their good looks for a lot longer. They are generally made with galvanized steel, which resists rusting. You can also find chain link fencing that has been coated with vinyl, so it will stay black, white, or whatever color you choose as it ages.

Chain link fences are easy to decorate.

A chain link fence may not ever look as pretty as a specialty wood fence, but it does not have to be ugly! There are so many options for decorating these fences. You could put vinyl slats between the fence links to make the fence look more solid. Another option is to hang flower baskets from the fence or even plant a vine plant beneath the fence and let it climb the fence, adding some greenery to the look.

Gates for chain link fences are easy to operate.

If you want a fully fenced-in yard, you will need some type of gate to allow access to the yard. Gates associated with other fencing types, like wood fencing, can be heavy and hard to operate. Gates for chain link fences are much lighter and are usually mounted on hinges that are easy to keep loose and usable. Plus, if the gate becomes damaged in any way, you can easily replace it without having to replace the rest of the fence. New chain link gates are pretty affordable.

Chain link fencing is easy and fast to install.

If you do not want a fencing company working in your yard for days on end, then you may want to go with chain link fencing. It's easier and faster to install. All the installers need to do is plant the posts and then unroll the big roll of chain link across the posts. Because the installation is easy, you won't pay the fencing company as much as if you were to have a wood or vinyl fence installed. And if you are handy and have a few helpers, you can probably install the chain link fence yourself.

Before you write off chain link fencing as an option for your home, think about the advantages listed above. You can get chain link fencing at an affordable rate, and it does not have to look like an industrial enclosure!

The Benefits Of A Back Yard Chain Link Fence

When my family and I moved into a new house, we were all excited about the large back yard. The kids needed a place outdoors to play and I was happy because they would get some exercise. Before we could let the kids loose in the yard, we wanted to erect a fence. My husband and I talked to a fence contractor and he recommended a chain link fence. He said the fence was durable and the price was in our budget. Our kids love playing in the yard and we love to see them getting fresh air and sunshine. My name is Mona Doyle and I wanted to tell everyone about our positive experience with our chain link fence. When you read my blog, you'll learn the many benefits of this type of fence and I hope that this information will help you with your decision.
